Nature and relaxation in the middle of the city
Munich is a small, well-organized cosmopolitan city, but also a green city with numerous parks and recreational areas. The English Garden is one of the largest inner-city parks in the world and is ideal for walks, picnics and sporting activities. The Isar, which flows through the city, was extensively "renaturalized" at the beginning of the new millennium. Since then, it has once again meandered through the city in its natural state with its wide green spaces. At these unique recreational areas, you can enjoy the sun, cool your feet in the river or walk or cycle endlessly to the south and north and enjoy the fresh air - right in the middle of the city.
Sports and leisure in Munich

The "Fünfseenland" is located just outside Munich to the west. The five lakes are Starnberger See, Ammersee and the three smaller ones - Wörthsee, Pilsensee and Weßlinger See. There are public bathing areas everywhere, which are very popular. Here you can spend relaxing hours by the water, get some exercise or simply unwind. To the east of the town is Lake Tegernsee - if it were a sea, it would be called the "Bavarian Riviera". Nearby and easy to walk around are the beautiful mountain lakes - the Schliersee and the slightly higher Spitzsingsee.
Further east is the Chiemsee, also known as the "Bavarian Sea". Swimming and boating are very popular here, especially sailing - there are great yacht clubs and regular regattas. And a castle on an island - Herrenchiemsee, a replica of Versailles Palace in Paris built by Bavaria's favorite king, King Ludwig II. Definitely worth a visit!
